SUNNY
BEACH

Sunny
Beach is regarded as Bulgaria’s largest and best beach
resort. The resort attracts visitors from all over Europe, attracted
by it’s location, cleanliness, Blue Flag beach, and general
value for money holiday destination.
Sunny Beach is approx. 40-minute taxi ride from Bourgas airport
– charter flights from the UK and Ireland from May to
end of September. It is now a major destination for people
looking for a holiday home in the sun and discrete, high quality
apartment and hotel development work is ongoing in the resort.
Apartment Prices have seen major increases in the past 3
years as buyers see the value of the resort. In addition,
there is a limited amount of space for development work in
prime areas and home owners have seen a very healthy rise
in the value of their property. This trend will continue over
the coming years and buyers will see excellent capital appreciation
in their investments. As an example – apartments averaged
350 Euro a sq meter 12-18 months ago; current prices are in
the 600-700 Euro a sq meter with future indications of 900-1000
Euro a sq meter for end of 2003 and into 2004.
Sunny Beach is a 7KM stretch of golden sand on the Black
Sea with summer temperatures of 30-35 degrees Celsius. Water
temperature reaches a lovely 23-25 degrees Celsius and the
wide beach area slopes gently into the sea making it safe
for children.
Sports include windsurfing, sailing, para sailing, speed
boating, scooter-driven parachuting, pedal boating, water
skiing, and beach volleyball. Nightlife runs the gamut from
floorshows and variety acts to casinos to clubs and discos
(a favorite is the centrally located and futuristic-looking
Iceberg).
Trips to historic and scenic spots throughout Bulgaria, including
Sofia and the wonderful Rila Monastery, and also internationally
(for example, overnight boat trips to Istanbul) can be arranged
through local travel services.
There are at least a zillion eating establishments of all
shapes, sizes and descriptions featuring a wide range of cuisine.
Bulgarian BBQ meals are very popular and great fun. All tastes
are catered for and, I guarantee you will never go hungry
or thirsty in the resort. Food is incredibly cheap as is drink/
cocktails. We visited in August and had a lovely meal for
4 in a fish restaurant in Nessebar (lovely town next to Sunny
Beach) with 2 bottles of nice wine for a total of 35 Euro.
This would be regarded as very expensive by Sunny beach standards!.
Bars have long opening hours and, with Happy Hours lasting
from 7.00-1.00AM in some bars, you might need some help to
find your apartment!
Children are very well catered for and many restaurants have
play areas to keep your young ones happy while you enjoy your
meal in peace. Check out the Happy Grill close to the beach
that has it’s own swimming pool and Island Bar in the
restaurant area.
Shopping in Sunny Beach is excellent with originals and copies
of all items to tempt you.
In general, Sunny Beach offers a holiday destination where
every member of the family is catered for, with the best value
of all the resorts in Europe.
